2 Corinthians
12 Boasting is necessary, though it is not profitable; but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a man was caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I know how such a man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, God knows— 4 was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak.
Something was seen and heard that was really incomprehensible and could not be revealed. We cannot comprehend what is in Heaven and our journey there. We have heard stories of people hearing angels sing, seeing a bright light, seeing loved ones, etc. just before death, but we cannot comprehend this journey. So, what do we do? How do we wrestle with this? Some just don't believe. It's the easy way out. It's all a big fairy tale. Others seem to "know it all." They are fooling themselves.
I choose to not worry about it. Oh, I have thought about it many, many times, as we all have. But, it is incomprehensible so I don't spend my time worrying about it. Does that mean it is not real or it is not truth? Absolutely not. Here is an example of truth being incomprehensible.
My daughter, Marie moved to Berlin a little over a year ago. She left her cat, Karma, with us until a friend could bring her to Berlin a little later. The night before Karma made her journey to Berlin, I sat at my computer with her in my arms and talked with Marie via Skype. The next day, after Karma made her flight to Berlin, one again, we Skyped. Only this time, Marie had Karma in her arms as we talked. I begin to think about what had happened and the difficulty it would be to explain to Karma what had happened. It was incomprehensible to Karma, yet it was truth.
Just because it is incomprehensible doesn't make it a fairy tale. God is real. The after-life is real. The story of Jesus is real. It is just incomprehensible.
