You don't slow down for the finish line

Running has taught me lots of lessons. Not only lessons about running but lessons about life. I have learned that the first mile is the toughest. That's when most people quit. Really, the body doesn't kick in until after two miles. Most people who run or walk to stay in shape do a mile or two. One reason is time. They go out and do a mile every morning. The challenge with this is that they never break through the hard part. I will be honest with you. When I run, I am ready to quit before I get to the mile 2 marker. It's just tough. What keeps me going is knowing that once I get passed the second mile, I can run for a while. So, don't give up early on. Keep on going and things will get better. Most people give up too soon. Keep on keeping on.

Another lesson I have learned is that no matter how far I run, the last 1/4 mile is the easiest. I always kick it in at that point and no matter if I run 4 miles or 10 miles, I feel the same. I bust it to the finish line. You don't slow down for the finish line. That should be true in everything we do. When we see the end of a goal, finish with a flourish!! Enjoy the finish line. Have your picture made. You made the goal!! You finished the race!! You don't slow down for the finish line. Not only run TO the end but run THROUGH the end. Don't regret how you finished. Do it with all your might. You don't slow down for the finish line!!
