Loyd Robbins....I miss him!!

He left us too early!! I have missed out on having a Dad for the past 40 years. All I have is faded memories. As the years go by, they become more faded. Why did this have to happen to such a great man as my Dad at the early age of 53? I was only 16 and in need of a Dad in my life. I miss him. Some questions have no answers. What would I give for a conversation with him right about now about life? I miss him. If only I could be half the man he was. You know, as time goes by, he becomes more perfect. Isn't that the way it is with the ones who die? We tend to forget the bad things. I really can't remember any bad things about my Dad. Well, maybe getting a whipping, but I needed those. He loved me, I have no doubt. Then again, he loved everybody. He really did.

I have seen him get food out of our pantry on a snowy evening and take it to a family in need. If he saw a wreck, he would stop and pray for the people and see if there was anything he could do for them. When I saw "The Apostle" for the first time, I cried like a little girl when the Apostle, played by Robert Duvall, prayed for the couple in the car wreck during the opening scene. It was SO much my Dad.I miss him. The world is short on men like my Dad. He was the Fruit of the Spirit personified. I know, he wasn't perfect but he was close in my eyes. I miss him. What a man, Loyd Robbins. A big man with a bigger heart. I miss him.

Eddie, when the picture popped up my wife said, he looks like you dad. There is a lot of resemblance, both in looks and in actions and personality. I have told my wife many times since hearing you describe your dad a good while ago, "He sounds just like dad, conerned about his people and the church building itself, checking the furnace etc.

Yes he was taken too early Eddie, but you were blessed!

Love you Bro
