Writing a book has been............

Writing a book has been quite an experience. The first time someone suggested that I write a book about my weight loss experience, I thought it was a crazy idea. While I enjoy writing, I have never considered writing a book about anything. After considering the possibility, I realized that there are more reasons to write a book than just trying sell books. The reason for writing a book for me was to share my story in hopes it would motivate others. So, I decided to write a book.

The first title that I considered was "From 333 to the Peachtree." In fact, I wrote a blog with that title. The problem was that running the Peachtree Road Race was not the peak running event, it was the Chicago Marathon. The next consideration was my theme verse, Mark 12:30. Loving Him with all my heart, mind, soul and strength. That was it. "All My Strength." So, I decided on that as my title. I have a Facebook group with the same title.

I began to look at different publishing possibilities as I was writing every day. Most companies wanted a financial commitment that I was not able to fulfill. I have family and friends who have written books and I checked out several options. The best one for me was CreateSpace who is owned by Amazon. They provided a very simple format and vehicle for me to write a book and have it published and distributed it in a way I could handle. I am very pleased with using CreateSpace and highly recommend it.

As I continued to write my book, events continued happening. Somehow, I have to have a way to end the book, or did I? It's not like I died so my story continues. I am not so sure about a follow-up book, however. Maybe an added chapter later on. Once I felt like the book was finished, it was edit time. I had the help of some family and friends.  Ironically, I am not a reader. It is also hard for me to find my own mistakes. Most likely, there is still a mistake or two in the book. The main point is the story. I hope it motivates others. If I can do it, so can they.

Once the book was finished, it was time to market it. I have lots of friends and family and my first step was to market to them. They will buy my book right? I am beginning to take my story on the road. I made an appearance on Atlanta's Channel 57, a local Christian station with Betty Cornett interviewing me. There will be more marketing to come. I do apologize to my Facebook friends for posting so much about it. I want to make sure they are aware of it. I have a book signing party coming up here in the Atlanta area as well. Marketing this book is just beginning. I really want people to read my book in hopes it will make a difference in lives. Too many people are dying too young because they are not healthy and fit.

Speaking of marketing, if you haven't purchased my book yet, go to my webpage www.allmystrength.org and check it out. If you would like to have me come to your organization and talk about my story, contact me and we'll talk about it. Thank you to all of you who have purchased my book. Great big hugs go out to you who have read the book and have sent me your review. I can't tell you how happy it has made me!
